Effect of Volute-Tongue Clearance on the Aerodynamic Performance and Noise of Multi-Wing Centrifugal Fan for Air Conditioning

Multi-wing centrifugal fans are wildly used in the central air-conditioning. The influence of dimensionless clearance volute-tongue on aerodynamic performance and noise is studied by numerical simulation experimental tests this paper. complicated internal flow related to unsteady a fan with multiple wings investigated simulation. Besides, circumstance analyzed. It testified that ameliorated using appropriate volute tongue clearance. Reduced eddy current decreased local-flow loss near exit. results show static pressure model △t/R2=0.12 rose 7.5 Pa aerodynamics value reduced 4 dB compared reference model. Meanwhile, an obvious reduction 3.74 obtained for installed air conditioning unit. significantly improved cochlear ratio △t/R2=0.12. further demonstrated proper distance effectively suppresses forward multi-wing fans.
